Why use a backlead

Backleads can be useful when you want to pin the line between rod and rig to the lake bed, so that carp are not likely to be spooked by either seeing or running into it. Also, on days when you seem to be getting constant line bites, using a backlead can eliminate the problem entirely. Fish may feed more confidently when your line is running along the bed of lake out of the way of any cruising carp. We have all seen carp after carp turn away just when they are about to cross your line, in a situation like this by using a backlead the carp would not see the line and continue cruising undisturbed without being spooked.

Another advantage of a backlead when using more than one rod, is that when you are fighting a carp on one rod there is far less chance of it kiting across and tangling in the line of the other rod, as the line is held down out of the way of the ensuing fight.

Lastly in South Africa some dams have problems with obstructions (on the water) as well as a continious problem of Hyacinth. When fishing with a back lead you reduce the chance of these obstructions causing line mamangement problems. i.e. Roodekoppies and Roodeplaat.

After casting and before tightening up slip the back lead onto your line and slide it down into the lake. A spare length of line or braid should be tied to the back lead and the other end attached to your pod or bank side It can then be retrieved if it comes off on the retrieve or in a fight with a carp.

There are basically 2 types of backlead, one is a ring on a weight with a slit to allow the lead to be slipped on the line after casting, this type of lead stays on the the line during retrieval and any fight with a carp. With this type of backlead it is probably better to not attach it by line to an object on the bank, but just have the lead on the line sliding freely. The other type has a has a screw fitting and 2 arms for gripping over the line. This type is designed so the line jumps out of the backlead on a strike, the fight then continuing without the backlead attached to the line. With this sort it is essential to tether the lead to an object on the bank by line so it can be retrieved.

One disadvantage of using backleads is that after striking there can be more slack line to pick up before making direct contact with a fish.

To use a backlead or not to use a backlead. If you need to make direct contact with a fish as soon as possible, then using a backlead can be a disadvantage, However, if the fish are being spooked out of your swim or you are experiencing line bites, then give backleading a go. It could result in more fish on the bank.

A back lead can be constructed effectivly with what you already have in your box. When requuired I use (what we call) a P2 sinker. I then use a clip on swivel onto the P2 with the non clip end attached to the P2 ring with a piece of braid. Once the line is in the water, I then take the clip part of the clip on swivel and clip that to the line and drop the P2 1 to 2 meters into the water thus pinning the line to the bed.

Spod Rocket

What is a spod?

A spod is basically a cylindrical bait rocket with a buoyant nose cone. The spod is filled with bait - pellets, corn, boilies or particles – and is then cast into the swim.

The buoyant nose cone makes the spod flip end up in the water allowing it to deposit its payload on a sixpence every time.

Spods come in a variety of types and sizes, from the tiny Gardner Pocket Rocket through to larger models, like the Korda Skyliner spod that is capable of carrying almost half-a-pint of bait at a time.

Apart from their size difference, some spods have many holes in their side and some have none at all. The side holes help water flow when you’re retrieving the spod.
However, if you’re looking to spod maggots or very small items like hemp and micro pellets, it’s better to use a spod with few or no holes in the side.

Spodding is a method used by many carp anglers as it enables the angler to very quickly bait up a swim with light or small baits beyond catapult range. However, if you do a lot of feeder fishing for bream and tench for example, it’s well worth investing in a spodding outfit. Rather than making a dozen casts with a feeder in order to prime the swim, quicken the whole process by simply filling your spod with groundbait.

The tackle you'll need...

An ordinary 2.5lb or 2.75lb test curve rod coupled with a standard free spool reel loaded with 12lb line could just about cope with spodding a small amount of bait short distances, but to get the most from this deadly technique you'll need a special set-up.

Large-spooled big pit reels loaded with braided line and a strong mono shockleader are best as they will take the brunt of a powerful cast, yet the large spool and thin diameter braid will not slow the spod down as it flies.

The best rods are specialiy designed spod rods having test curves of around the 4lb to 5lb mark. These will easily be able to cope with the stresses of casting filled spods that could weigh in excess of 6oz - maybe even 10oz in some circumstances.

Great baits for spodding…
Boilies can be catapulted out, but if you want to get them in a tighter grouping, it’s better to spod them. Another advantage of spodding boilies is that regardless of what size of bait you’re using, you can still get them 100-yards plus.

Pellets come in various types and sizes and it is always better to mix them in order to fool the fish. These should be spodded out and not catapulted. To add casting weight, dunk the spod under the water prior to casting.

Similar to pellets, the amount of different particles that you can use is legion. Again, as most particles are quite light, it pays to use a larger spod in order to give you a little bit more casting weight. Spods come in a variety of different shapes and sizes.

QUICK TIP
After you have cast out your spod into the swim, leave it for a few seconds in order to allow the spod time to fully empty. Also, prior to retrieving the spod, make a strike; this is to ensure that the spod is completely empty.

what you will need for basic marker float / feature finding setup

1 x carp marker float
2 x carp rubber shock beads
1 x 2oz+ lead

BASIC CARP FISHING MARKER FLOAT SETUP for finding under water features.

how to set it all up

right first up slide your lead onto your mainline the size is up to you but i suggest a 2 1/2 oz lead or more.

now thread on 1 or 2 rubber shock beads these are for trying to cut down the tangles and to make sure the swivel on the marker float dont snag on the knot or lead

now tie your marker float on.

all done.

WEEDY MARKER FLOAT SETUP

heres what you need.

1 x marker float.
1 x a piece of line around 18 inches long.
1 x small swivel.
1 x cork ball.
1 x 2oz+ lead.

1. tie on a lead to your piece of loose line.

2. now thread on a cork ball with a baiting needle.

3. now tie a swivel onto the other end of line so the total length from lead to swivel is 12 inches.

4. now slide the cork ball over the swivel so just 1 eye is showing.

5. part 1 finished.

6. now thread the swivel (seperate piece of line with the lead attatched) onto your mainline.

7. now thread a bead onto your mainline.

8. now tie a marker float onto the end of your mainline.

FEATURE FINDING : THE ART OF FINDING UNDERWATER FEATURES

Some times on larger waters it isnt as easy as just casting to a island or just under a bush in the margins as banks dont allways contain vegetation for cover so you need to know what the lake bed is like out in front of your swim so you can stand a resonable chance of finding a carp patrol route.

Marginal shelfs are a great place to pick up a few carp and finding them is easy heres a few tips on what to look out for. You should start casting to the left or right of your swim and work your way across to the opposite side of your swim checking depths.

When the lead hits the lake bed you want to feel the vibration through the rod to indicate what the lake bed is made of. If its a solid/tap when it lands its gravel or sand if you dont feel much its probably silt. When doing this dont look at the lake look at the floor and try and picture the bottom.

As you pull the marker float back to you by raising your rod slowly over head youl feel the lead tight against the lake bed as it moves along you will feel a steady resistance or mabe tapping.
if you feel tapping its gravel you can roughly tell how big the stones are on the bottom as the lead slides over them.

Some times theres big mussle beds they also feel like big stones spread out a bit but watch your line because theyl close if tapped and might grab the line or lead. If its sand you will will feel it running along the bottom smoothly or if its soft silt or clay you will feel it sliding but with more resistace but this depends on how thick the silt/clay is.

When you feel different area`s like when silt patches hit gravel try raising your marker float, you should let a foot of line out at a time by pulling line from the spool with either your baitrunner set lightly or using your clutch untill you see your float this will tell you how deep that spot is. You should repeat this all the way in

When you find gravel you will be able to tell how big the gravel patch is or if its a bar you will feel it as you come up the back of it. you will notice that it pulls back a bit untill you hit the top of the bar and the leads not pulling back but this depends on how steep the bars are when at the top raise your marker float and see how deep it is

As you go over the bar youl generaly feel the line go slacker as it rolls over and falls down the other side now raise your float again ,is it deeper than the other side?whas it a gravel bar or was it the marginal shelf? if theres weed itl feel snaggy and youl need to pull harder till the lead pulls through. If its just clumps of weed it will be the same but less presure is needed to pull it out and then you might feel gravel or silt patches then mabe odd clumps of weed. If the bottom is covered in silk weed you will find your marker float wont rise to the surface or you will find it tangled around your rig when you reel in sometimes the carp wise up to suspiciously placed baits like right in the center of a bar or gravel patch. Try to find the gravel then pull back slowly till you just feel silt then leave it there so the leads in the silt but the baits on gravel or 12 inches onto the silt which is where they generaly start to feed like eating from the side of the plate. Youve just got to find the most likely feeding spots .

NATIONAL PROTEA COLOURS ZONE 6 COMPETITIONS

The Action Committee decided on a meeting held on 1 February 2009 to, until further notice, suspend the awarding of National Protea Colours to athletes participating in die Zone 6 Competitions. The suspension will take effect after the SAFBAF Annual General Meeting on 4 July 2009. The implementation date is extended as to enable the Action Committee to get the amendments to the Constitution approved and to manage all the consequences of the decision. Written notice of the intended amendments to the Constitution will be circulated to all persons entitled to attend the Annual General Meeting, at least thirty (30) days prior to the date of the meeting. The extension of the implementation date means that National Teams will still be selected for participation in the 2009 Zone 6 Tournaments with the 2008 Junior Trials and the 2009 Ladies and Senior Trials as basis.

2. The reasons for the suspension of National Colours are due to the fact that Namibia and Zimbabwe increasingly fail to comply with the Zone 6 Constitution. This non compliance effect the eligibility of this tournament as suitable for the awarding of national colours.

3. In terms of the National Colours Regulations the award of national colours shall only apply to athletes who represent South Africa in an international competition of the required nature and standard as recommended by the relevant Member Federation against fully representative teams from another country or countries, provided that such recommendation is approved by the National Colours Board and furthermore that such recommendation be consistent with SASCOC High Performance System and any applicable policy of SRSA.

4. All application for the award of National Colours must be accompanied by an declaration signed by the President of a of Member Federation stating that:

4.1. the Federation approves of the application for national colours;

4.2. the event is of the required nature and standard as to justify national colours;
and

4.3. the national team is participating against fully representative teams.

5. In a situation where Namibia and Zimbabwe are not able to comply with the Zone 6
Constitutional regulations and/or where the competitions is not of the necessary standard and status an/or where South Africa is not participating against fully representative teams, the President will not sign the declaration and thereby conduct a action that may be considered as a breach of the National Colours regulations, or constitute an abuse of the national colours, or constitute bringing the said national colours into disrepute.

6. SAFBAF will on the next Zone 6 Executive Board Meeting proposes constitutional amendments to further increase the tournament standards to which participating nations had to comply. If one or more of the participating nations are not able to conform to the Constitutional stipulations, no national colours will be awarded in that particular year.

7. The Action Committee is making a submission to FIPS-ed General Assembly in Dresden, Germany on 18 April 2008 requesting FIPS-ed to consider the approval of a FIPS-ed Africa Continental Feeder Angling (Bank Angling) Championship as a substitution for the current Zone 6 Feeder Angling Competition in which South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe participates. We need a "Feeder Angling Competition" that is open to all African Countries and also to other FIPS-ed members wishing to participate in this tournament. This will lift the status and standard of the tournament and make it a tournament suitable for the awarding of national colours.

8. Provincial Members are requested to advice their provincial teams accordingly.

SA VARSWATER OEWERHENGEL FEDERASIE
2009 NASIONALE KARPHENGEL PROEWE

1. INLEIDING:

Die Nasionale Keurkomitee was, vanweë die abnormale situasie wat ontstaan het as gevolg van die groot aantal onttrekkings aan die Nasionale Proewe van hengelaars wat vir insluiting in die Nasionale Proteaspan kwalifiseer, genoodsaak om sekere krisis besluite te neem. Die krisismaatreëls is 'n poging om die deelname van hengelaars aan die Nasionale Proewe te verhoog en om groter geloofwaardigheid van die spanverkiesingsbeleid te verleen.

Van die 16 hengelaars (8 penne) wat vir insluiting in die Nasionale Proteaspan kwalifiseer, het 8 hengelaars (4 penne) onttrek wat beteken dat daar slegs 8 hengelaars (4 penne) in hierdie kategorie van die proewe sal deelneem. Indien die huidige proewebepaling dus onveranderd gelaat word, sal alle deelnemers aan die proewe outomaties vir insluiting in die Nasionale Proteaspan kwalifiseer.

2. HUIDIGE REËLBEPALING MBT UITNODIGINGS NA PROEWE EN DIE SAMESTELLING VAN HENGELPARE (PENMAATS):

2.1. Tans kwalifiseer die eerste vier hengelpare (spanmaats) wat op basis van die nasionale kampioenskappe merietelys eerste in elke sone geëindig het vir deelname aan die Nasionale Proewe.

2.2. Hengelpare moet in die penmaat kombinasies soos met die bekendmaking van die proewe nominante, aan die Nasionale Proewe deelneem. Die bepaling hou die implikasie in dat indien een van die penmaats van die proewe onttrek, die oorblywende penmaat wat op meriete vir deelname aan die proewe kwalifiseer het, ook moet onttrek.

2.3. Indien die Nasionale Keurkomitee sou toelaat dat hengelaars wat deur die onttrekking van 'n penmaat benadeel is, toegang tot die Nasionale Proewe geweier word, sal dit 'n verbreking van die SASCOC National Colour Regulations wees wat bepaal dat alle atlete wat vir deelname aan die proewe kwalifiseer, 'n gelyke geleentheid tot deelname gegun moet word.

3. NUWE BEPALING MBT DIE UITNODIGING NA PROEWE EN DIE SAMESTELLING VAN HENGELPARE (PENMAATS)

Die volgende hengelaars kwalifiseer na afloop van die Nasionale Kampioenskappe vir deelname aan die Nasionale Proewe:

3.1. Ten einde vir die onttrekkings van hengelpare te kompenseer en met inagneming van die feit dat daar uit die geledere van die proewe nominante, benewens 'n Proteaspan ook 'n Federasiespan verkiesbaar is, het die Nasionale Keurkomitee besluit om in plaas van die eerste vier hengelpare, die eerste vyf hengelpare (spanmaats) in elke sone na die Nasionale Proewe uit te nooi. Die addisionele drie hengelpare wat in terme van die nuwe besluit vir deelname aan die proewe kwalifiseer, sal telefonies deur die Sameroeper van die Karphengel-Komitee van die uitnodiging na die proewe in kennis gestel word,

3.2. Hengelpare wat aan die nasionale proewe deelneem moet dieselfde hengelpaar (penmaat) kombinasie behou as wat gegeld het tydens die bekendmaking van die hengelpare wat vir deelname aan die Nasionale Proewe kwalifiseer. Die ondergeskikte penmaat in 'n hengelpaar, sal vir spanverkiesingsdoeleindes die kwalifiseringstatus van sy penmaat (byvoorbeeld 'n protea hengelaar) verwerf.

3.3. Indien individuele hengelaars egter van die nasionale proewe sou onttrek, kan daar vanuit die geledere van die hengelpare wat deur die onttrekkings geraak word, by wyse van wilsooreenstemming, oor provinsiale grense heen, nuwe hengelpare saamgestel word. Die volgende bepalings sal egter op die samestelling van nuwe hengelpare van toepassing wees:

3.3.1. Albei die lede van 'n hengelpaar moet oor die finansiële vermoë beskik om hulle spanverpligtinge na te kom.

3.3.2. Beide die hengelaars moet aan die kwalifiseringsvereistes vir opname in die spanne waarvoor genomineer word voldoen. Vir opname in 'n nasionale proteaspan moet minstens een van die penmaats reeds voorheen Nasionale Proteakleure verwerf het.

3.3.3. Hengelpare wat vir deelname aan die nasionale proewe kwalifiseer het, mag nie doelbewus ontbind en nuwe hengelpare vorm nie. Kwalifiserende hengelpare mag dus nie ontbind en hergroepeer indien daar nie onttrekkings ter sprake is nie.

3.3.4. Nuut saamgestelde hengelpare sal onderhewig wees aan die bepaling dat die ondergeskikte hengelaar vir spanverkiesingsdoeleindes die kwalifisering-status van sy penmaat verwerf.

4. KWALIFISERINGSVEREISTES VIR OPNAME IN SPANNE:

4.1. Nasionale Proteaspan

Die hengelende lede van die Nasionale Proteaspan word op basis van die prestasie van die hengelpare en die keurders-evaluering (keurdersmerietelys) in die Nasionale Proteaspan ingesluit. Om vir insluiting in die Nasionale Proteaspan te kwalifiseer, moet minstens een van die lede van 'n hengelpaar oor Nasionale Protea beskik

4.2. SAVOF Federasiespan

Die SAVOF Federasiespan word op basis van die hengelprestasie van die hengelpare en die keurders-evaluering (keurdersmerietelys) saamgestel. Daar bestaan geen ander kwalifiseringsvereistes met betrekking tot die vorige verwerwing van kleure nie.

5. DATUM VAN INWERKINGTREDING:
Die veranderinge aan die spanverkiesingsbeleid tree onmiddellik in werking.

Proewe en Keuring vir SA’s 2009

- GN Karp Span sal gekies word na afloop van ‘n proef wat gaan plaasfind by Bloemhofdam (Bamboesspruit – Zone C)

- Alle hengelaars wat vir die liga ingekryf is en geaffilieer is kan aan die proewe deelneem.

- Hengelaars wat aan die proewe wil deelneem moet asb voor die aanvang van die liga in Januarie registreer. Jacques sal die nodige registrasie vorms deurstuur

- Die Proewe datum sal wees vanaf 20 Februarie 2009 tot 22 Februarie 2009

- Penne sal getrek word om 08:00 op die 20ste Februarie. Indien ‘n hengelaar nog nie teenwoordig is om ‘n pen te trek nie sal daardie hengelaar penne trek wat oorbly

- Die proef begin stiptelik om 10:00 en sal eindig 12:00 Sondag 22 Februarie (50 ure)

- Formaat:

1. Elke hengelaar wat homslef beskikbaar gestel het sal individueel op ‘n pen hengel met slegs 2 hengel stokke

2. Willem De Jongh asook ‘n minimum van 1 ander keurder sal deel uitmaak van die keuring.

3. Keuring vind plaas op grond van:

a. Sak gewig 75%

b. Tegniese vaardighede (Markerfloat werk, Grondvoer toediening, Persoonlike temprament, ens.) 25%.

Die lys van keurings aspekte sal deurgestuur word aan alle hengelaars wat aan die proewe deelneem

4. Jacques sal weegbeamptes reel

5. Die FIPS-ed (SAFOV Karp Hengel) reels SAL in totaliteit toegepas word.

Gauteng Noord Korrespondensie

Hi,

Wat kan mens se. Die Karp SA’s het weer vir ‘n paar rekords gesorg die jaar. Dit het egter nie baie goed gegaan met ons span nie. Die resultate was as volg:

Dit is met trots dat ek wel kan se dat Jan Steytler en Carel Schoeman uitgenooi is na die Protea Proewe toe wat gehou gaan word 19 Jan tot 22 Jan 2009. Hulle het teen die groot name in Suid Afrikaanse hengel meegeding en gewys dat hulle met enige hengelaar kan meeding. Ons wens hulle alle sterkte toe. Dit is ook dan bevestig dat volgende jaar se SA’s verskuif is na Mei 2009 toe en dat die volgende Wereldspele in Oktober (in Frankryk) gehou sal word. Indien Gauteng Noord ‘n span wil word om in die toekoms mee rekening te hou sal ons drasties ons keuring stelsel moet hersien. Ek is vreeslik dankbaar vir die hulp wat Spyker Coetzee en Lourens Potgieter aangebied het maar ons bestuurspan en ondersteuningspan wat saam afgaan SA’s toe is van die swakste van al die provinsies.Met meer hengelaars om van te kies die seisoen behoort daar ‘n verbetering te wees in die volgende SA’s – maar met die kaliber hengelaars gaan ons nog baie ontwikkeling nodig he.

GAUTENG-NOORD KOMPETERENDE KARPHENGEL INHUIS REELS

1. AANHEF EN SAMESTELLING.

1.1. Kompeterende karphengel resorteer internasionaal en nasionaal as ‘n faset van Varswater Oewer Hengel en dien ooreenkomstig ook op provinsiale vlak. Die beheerligaam sal GAUTENG-NOORD VARSWATER OEWER HENGEL FEDERSIE (G-NVOHF) wees en alle afilliasies,registrasies en deelname is onderhewig aan die G-NVOHF algemene grondwet en huishoudelike reëls.

1.2. Die faset is ‘n uiters gespesialiseerde afdeling van die hengel sport en sal deur ‘n kommittee bestuur word, in lyn met F.I.P.S.ed regulasies (Verwysing B), die NASIONALE BEHEERLIGAAM VIR KOMPETERENDE KARP HENGEL (SABFAF )en die GAUTENG-NOORD KOMPETERENDE KARP HENGEL (G-NKKH) grondwet en die GAUTENG NOORD KOMPETERENDE KARP HENGEL (G-NKKH) huishoudelike reels en stipulasies (Verwysing D) .

2. DOELWIT VAN G-NKKH

2.1. Die doelwitte en kragte van G-NKKH is en sal wees om:

2.1.1. Karp hengel in Gauteng Noord te beheer en te koordineer;
2.1.2. Karp hengel as ‘n faset in Gauteng Noord te bevorder en ontwikkel by alle lede betrokke by G-NVOHF;
2.1.3. Probleme raakende karp hengel, ongeorganiseerheid, vrese en slegte sportmanskap in Gauterng Noord te identifiseer, prioritiseer en op te los en om die G-NKKH hengel gedragskode (Verwysing C) te onderskryf en dienooreenkomstig op te tree;
2.1.4. Die omstandighede waaronder kompeterende hengel plaasvind te formuleer, kontroleer en aan te pas
2.1.5. Karp met respek te hanteer en vry te laat asook om ander hengelaars aan te spoor om dieselfde beginsels toe te pas.

3. ORGANISEERING VAN G-NKKH

3.1. Die grondwetlike liggame van G-NKKH sal wees:

3.1.1. Enige algemene vergadering van G-NKKH en spesifiek die algemene jaar vergadering van G-NKKH
3.1.2. Die bestuur van G-NKKH wat ten alle tye, uitgesluit tydens ‘n algemene vergadering, sal optree as die uitvoerend en bestuur liggaam van G-NKKH
3.1.2.1. Alle besluite van die G-NKKH bestuur is onderhewig aan goedkeuring en bevestiging by die volgende algemene jaarvergadering van G-NKKH.

4. DIE G-NKKH BESTUUR

4.1. Die deelnemers aan G-NKKH sal ‘n verkose verteenwoordiger hê, soos verkies op die G-NVOHF algemene jaarvergadering op ‘n jaarlikse basis.

4.2. Die verkose verteenwoordiger sal optree in belang van G-NKKH asook aan die hoof (voorsitter) staan van die bestuur van G-NKKH.

4.3. Die verkose verteenwoordiger sal ondersteun word deur:
4.3.1. ‘n Span Kaptein verkies op die algemene jaar vergadering
4.3.2. ‘n Sekretaris verkies op die algemene jaar vergadering

4.4. Verkose kandidate moet geafilieerde lede van G-NVOHF en aktiewe deelnemers van die kompeterende karphengel faset wees.

4.5. Die aktiewe lede van G-NKKH sal een maal per jaar n spesiale algemene jaarvergadering hou.

4.7. Die algemene jaar vergadering sal gehou word binne (60) sestig dae vanaf die Finansiele Jaar einde van G-NVOHF.

4.8. ‘n Spesiale vergadering kan versoek word deur die bestuur of na die ontvangs van ‘n geskrewe versoek deur (3) drie lede van G-NKKH en gehou word binne (15) vyftien dae na ontvangs van die versoek. Duidelike mosies en motiveerings moet die versoeke vergesel.

4.9. Aankondiging van die algemene jaarvergadering, die agenda en alle meegaande dokumentasie moet aan alle lede van G-NKKH gestuur word (30) dertig dae voor die algemene jaarvergadering plaasvind. Enige item wat onder “Sake vir dringende aandag” op die agenda geplaas word vir bespreking moet vergesel word deur a besprekings dokument. (Verwysing A)

4.10.Stem magte by ‘n algemene jaarvergadering sal as volg wees:

4.10.1. Elke lid van G-NKKH sal gemagtig wees op een stem
4.10.2. Verder sal die bestuurder van G-NKKH die finale stem hê indien daar ‘n gelyke uitslag is.
4.10.3. Indien ‘n lid nie by die algemene jaarvergadering kan wees nie kan so ‘n lid ‘n ander lid skriftelik aanwys om namens hom op te tree. ‘n Lid kan sleg vir (1) een ander lid as porxy optree.
4.10.4. Die G-NKKH bestuurder sal optree as voorsitter van die algemene jaarvergadering
4.10.5. Stemming sal plaasvind by wyse van hande, of as versoek word, by wyse van ‘n stembrief
4.10.6. A quorum vir enige algemene vergadering is ten minste 50% van die lede van G-NKKH

5. GRONDWET WYSIGINGS

5.1. Wysigings ten opsigte van die G-NKKH grondwet kan slegs plaasvind op die algemene jaarvergadering of op a spesiale vergadering saamgeroep vir die doel.

5.2. Voorstelle vir wysigings (Verwysing A) moet skriftelik ingehandig word met volledige motifeerings en moet aan alle lede van G-NKKH gestuur word (30) dertig dae voor die algemene jaarvergadering of spesiale vergadering plaasvind.

5.3. Vir wysigings om bekragtig te word, is ‘n twee derde meerderheid stemme van die lede nodig

6. KOMPITIES FORMAAT.

6.1. Alle kompetisies in die liga sal gehou word volgens die SAFBAF reëls vir kompeterende karphengel (Verysing B). As gevolg van die beperkte aantal deelnemers aan die ligas sal daar vir die volgende voorsiening gemaak word:

6.1.1. Kompetisies sal gehou word in waters met ‘n vis populasie soos aangedui deur die SAFBAF en F.I.P.S.ed regulasies. Bekende spesiehengel damme sal ook voorkeur kry.
6.1.2. Die liga kampioenskap sal bepaal word oor n reeks van (4) vier liga kompetisies wat in die hoë hengel seisoen gehou sal word. Die eerste liga wedstryd sal plaasvind soos bepaal op die Algemene Jaarvergadering. Die verdere datums van die daaropvolgende ligas, asook die proewe, sal deur die G-NKKH bestuur bepaal word of dienooreenkomstig die jaarprogram van G-NVOHF plaasvind.
6.1.3. Die liga punte sal toegeken word soos deur die SAFBAF voorgeskryf.
6.1.4. Hengelpare moet hulle pen registreer (Verwysing E) voor hulle ‘n liga hengel. Hierdie registrasie is oop deur die seisoen.
6.1.5. Die paar met die laagste punt aan die einde van die seisoen sal die provinsiale liga kampioene wees, die paar met die 2de laagste punt sal tweede wees, ens.
6.1.6. Indien ‘n hengelpaare tydens die seisoen sou opbreek en nuwe hengel pare gevorm word sal die punte van die betrokke pare bymekaar getel word en deur twee gedeel word. Die gemiddelde sal die punte wees waarmee die nuwe hengel pare voortgaan in die seisoen,
6.1.7. Sou ‘n hengelaar besluit om te onttrek gedurende ‘n seisoen en ‘n nuwe hengelaar by die pen aansluit sal die punte ook bepaal word soos in 6.1.5 met die verskil dat die nuwe hengelaar maksimum punte bring wat bereken is op die afgelope ligas.
6.1.8. Die liga kompetisies sal tussen pare gehou word. Pare moet geafillieer wees aan G-NVOHF maar hoef nie noodwendig aan dieselfde klub te behoort nie.
6.1.9. Indien daar (12) twalf of meer pare deelneem sal daar in (3) drie sones gehengel word soos op die Nasionale Kampioenskappe.
6.1.10. Waneer (3) drie of meer klubs die vemoë het om spanne van (6) ses lede elk in te skryf sal die ligas in klub verband gehou word en in sones gehengel word soos op die Nasionale Kampioenskappe.

7. G-NVOHV LIGA ERKENNINGS.

7.1. Die volgende erkennings sal gemaak word deur G-NVOHF

7.1.1. Provinsiale kampioen pare 1ste-3de
7.1.2. Die swaarste sak vir die seisoen.
7.1.3. Die swaarste vis per spesie gedurende die ligas.(alle karp spesies oos in die SABFAF reels bepaal word)

8. G-NKKH SPAN SAMESTELLING EN KEURING.

8.1. Die provinsiale span sal gekies word in lyn met reels,regulasies en toepassings van SAFBAF op nasionale vlak. (PER REVISIE).

8.2. Lede moet hulself nomineer en beskikbaar stel om op nationale vlak te hengel.

8.3. (12) Twaalf hengelaraas uit die nomineerings sal genooi word om aan (2) twee proewe deel te neem.

8.4. Die verkiesing van die (12) Tewaalf hengelaars vind as volg plaas:
8.4.1. Alle genomineerde hengelaars van die eerste (6) ses penne tydens die liga
8.4.2. Indien daar nie (12) Twaalf genomineerde hengelaars uit die eerste (6) ses penne verkry word nie sal die pen wat sewende gekom het tydens die liga se genomineerde hengelaars genooi word en sodoende op die rang afgaan todat daar ‘n volledige (12) Twalf tal genooi is. ‘n Dertiende hengelaar kan, met spesiale voorsiening genooi word indien die Sweende of daaropvolgende penne (2) twee genomoneerde hengelaars is.

8.5. Penne sal gevalueer word gedurende die proewe. Dit sal gedoen word deur die afsonderlike weeg van elke pen se vis.

8.6. Die keurders het die reg, in oorleg met die betrokke lede, om die beste (3) drie pare te kies vir deelname aan die Nasionale Kampioenskappe, al is die pare nie gepaar vir die Liga kompetisies nie. Dit sal slegs met uitsondering gedoen word, maar nie as ‘n reel nie.

8.7. Die G-NKKH Provinsiale span sal bestaan uit (6) ses hengelaars, (1) een reserwe , (1) een bestuurder, en (1) kaptein/afrigter. As n span van (9) nege nie opgemaak kan word nie is die kaptein/afrigter die reserwe.

8.8. Die finale samestelling van die span sal aan G-NVOHF voorgele word vir goedkeuring ten minste (3) drie maande voor die Nasionale Kampioenskappe.

9. DEELNAME AAN DIE NASIONALE KAMPIOENSKAPPE.

9.1. Die aangewese span en spanbestuur sal deelneem aan die Nasionale Kampionskappe onderhewig aan die grondwet en huishuodelike reëls van G-NVOHF in terme van:

9.1.1. Die toekenning van SPANKLERE
9.1.2. Die bevestiging van die span se deelname.
9.1.3. Dissipline voor en tydens die Kampioenskappe.
9.1.4. Verslaglewering deur die bestuurder en kaptein.
9.1.5. Bestuur van span finansies.

OMGEWING EN NATUUR

Rommel/Vislyn
· Moet nie rommel of van kant gemaakte vislyn rond strooi nie
· Asbliksakke moet altyd byderhand wees en henglaars word aangemoedig om enige rommel/vislyn wat hy/sy sien rondle weg te gooi.
· Afbreek tydens die gooi, gehakte stroppe (langs die oewer of onder water) moet verwyder word waar moontlik. Indien dit nie gedoen kan word nie aan die bestuur van die oewer meegedeel word.

Wild en Oewer
· Respekteer die omgewing and minimaliseer oerwer en wild ontwrigting
· Maak vuur slegs in areas daarvoor afgesonder
· Moet nie heinings beskadig nie
· Vermy die afbreek van oewer plantegroei

ALGEMENE GEDRAG

Optrede langs die oewer
· Neem ander hengelaars in ag. Verhoed oormaat oewer geraas en beweging.
· Vermy die gebruik van skerp ligte gedurende die aande
· Volg die reels van die oewer wat gehengel word.

VIS HANTERING

Hantering:
· Wees bewus dat horlosie bande, lapel wapens en enige ander aanhangsles die vis kan hak of beskadig
· Minimaliseer die tyd wat die vis buite die water spandeer en hanteer die vis so min moontlik
· Ondersteun die vis versigtig wanneer die vis vrygelaat word.
· Moet nie die vis laat val of in die water gooi nie.
· Sakke, matte, skepnette en jou hande moet altyd nat wees voor gebruik
· Matte wat in die son was moet eers in die water geplaas word om af te koel alvorens ‘n vis daarop geplaas word.
· Vis moet ten alle tye met ‘n mat of sak na die water geneem word om vrygelaat te word. Moet nie die vis in jou hande dra na die water nie.

Verwysing D: G-NKKH Huishoudelike Reels en Stipulasies

1. Algemeen

1.1. Penne sal getrek word voor enige liga byeenkoms
1.2. Penne sal getrek word voor enige proewe plaasvind
1.3. Penne van (8) agt meter by (8) meter, wat die penne aandui, moet duidelik afgebaken wees alforens ‘n kompetisie plaasvind.
1.4. Waar moontlik moet penne ‘n minimum van (20) twintig meter wan mekaar afgebaken wees.
1.5. ‘n Zone sal wees die reguit lyn wat vanaf die oewer uitloop en wat gelyk is aan die pen area (8 meter)

2. Reels en Aksies

2.1. Vis sal nie geweeg word indien:

2.1.1. ‘n Vis buite die afgebankende pen gespeel of geland word
2.1.2. Beide hengelaars van die betrokke pen in die water is tydens die speel of skep van ‘n vis. Vergunning sal gegee word indien daar twee visse gelyktydig gespeel word.
2.1.3. ‘n Hengelaar dieper as die vereiste kniediepte in die water instep om die vis te speel of die vis te skep.

2.2. Waarskuwings sal gegee word indien:

2.2.1. ‘n Hengelaar buite die betrokke pen se zone hengel
2.2.2. ‘n Pen buite die betrokke pen se zone voer
2.2.3. Hengelgewigte ligter as 50g is
2.2.4. Voerballe groter as 40mm in deursnee
2.2.5. “Spod Rockets” se deursnee groter as 50mm is of indien ‘n “Spod Rocket” se lengte langer as 200mm is

SAFBAF CARP ANGLING RULES

1 GENERAL

1.1 Only members of a club, affiliated to one of SAFBAF’s member provinces, may participate at club, provincial and national level.

1.2 Participation will only be allowed if all the relevant membership and affiliation fees are paid up to date.

1.3 A team will consist of 3 duos with two anglers in each peg. In this facet the competition is competed by these 3 duos and not by individuals. Two reserves will be allowed per team. Replacements/Substitutions may only occur under the supervision of the officials and will be final. The reserves may only enter the peg with their fishing tackle, but without any bait and/or ground bait.

1.4 For National competitions NO competitors are allowed to fish the particular water in question 15 days preceding the event. Infringement: The anglers caught fishing illegally will not be allowed to take part in that National event.

2 SPECIES & SIZE

2.1 Only carp, including mirror, common, leather, grass carp, will count. The Chinese or silver carp do not count as they are NOT considered sub species of Carpius Carpio.

2.2 To be able to count the fish must weigh in at 1500 grams or more.

3 DRAWING OF LOTS/PEGS

3.1 The drawing of pegs must be carried out at least 60 minutes before the beginning of the competition.

3.2 In all waterways angling position number 1 will always be situated to the left looking at the water, and the marking will run from left to right.

4 PEG LAYOUT

4.1 During competitions, the distance between each peg must be a minimum of 40m and a maximum of 70m. These distances are measured from the outside border of the peg.

4.2 The angling position of each peg must comprise of an 10m square camp, which is to accommodate all the requirements of the angling pair. PLEASE SEE FOLLOWING DRAWING AS IT DEMONSTRATES NEW DIMENSIONS.

A - Access authorised for two competitors, their Team managers (one at a time) and Jury members.
B - Access authorised for Jury members, reserves, stewards, the Team Managers of the Province to which the competitors belong and the press, with the consent of the two competitors.
C- Access authorised for the organisers and the Jury only.
D - Access authorised for the organisers, Jury members, reserves, press and Delegates of all Provinces, but forbidden to the public and to spectators.

4.3 Tents, umbrellas and gazebos must all fall within area “A”. All items erected on the peg must be preferably of a discrete nature such as green, camouflage, khaki etc.

4.4 It is forbidden to illuminate the water using gas lamps or fluorescent lights, and all lighting within the peg should be of a subdued nature. Illumination is allowed inside tents, and frontal headlamps are allowed to help land the fish.

4.5 During the playing of the fish, the angler must remain inside each peg-defined boundaries, namely the 10m wide area; pegs placed at intervals of 20meters, planted firmly into the ground and along the border of the peg will determine the fishing area; furthermore, it is necessary to create a corridor D which will serve as a passageway for organizers, jury members, reserves, journalists and delegates of all participating Provinces. Access to this lane will be forbidden for the public and spectators. Landing fish outside the 10 meter boundaries remain forbidden. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

4.6 Only peg mates may land a fish within their own peg. No other angler, captain or manager may assist. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

4.7 Anglers are not allowed to enter the water to gain casting distance. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

4.8 Inside the peg, the anglers must move discreetly and quietly, and any angling action (casting, retrieving and ground baiting), must be performed inside the peg.

4.9 At the end of the event the peg must be clean, and as you found it.

5 COMPETITION DURATION

5.1 The competition shall run for a minimum angling time of 24 hours at Club, 48 hours at Provincial and 72 hours at National levels respectively.

5.2 This excludes all preparation and peg drawing time, so competitors should be at the venue 30 minutes before the drawing of the pegs.

6 PROCEDURES

6.1 Anglers must wait for the first signal, before accessing their peg.

6.2 A signal will indicate to the anglers they can enter the peg to prepare the swim. Each peg will have 120 minutes to prepare its material.During this preparation time the two anglers may not receive any outside help.

6.3 After this first signal, they may start preparing their equipment, testing tackle and preparing their ground bait. They may also begin feature finding and setting up marker floats.

6.4 A second signal will indicate that this time is now over and the beginning of the actual angling competition begins and anglers may then begin adding ground-feed and start fishing.

6.5 Once this second signal has been given no persons, equipment, or feed items may enter the peg area. At National competitions there will be a window period of two hours halfway through the event for the re-stocking of bait, ground bait as well as any other items deemed necessary and only the team captain is authorized to fulfill this action. The re-stocking time will be determined at the captains meeting.

6.6 Competitors are not allowed to receive any outside help; only the team captain or manager is authorized to access the peg (one at a time) of the competitors of his team and this only to give verbal advice; a team captain/manager is not allowed into the peg of an angler who is not part of his team.

6.7 At night the team captain/manager may only enter the anglers’ peg if he is accompanied by an official or by the team captain of a different team.

6.8 An angler is only allowed to enter the water to perform one of the following; to net a fish or to place or retrieve a carp sack. During either of these actions the angler may not go deeper than knee depth.

6.9 The third signal warns the competitors that only 15 minutes remain until the end of the competition.

6.10 The fourth signal marks the end of the competition.

6.11 Another 15 minutes is allowed to play and net any fish, which was hooked before the 5th signal, which indicates the end of the event. If the landing of the fish takes more than 15 minutes, the fish must be released back into the water and will not count for the competition.

6.12 No items may be brought into the ring by anyone day or night.

6.13 For National events there will be one hour allocated for the providing of food/beverages (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) by any official member of the team. The specific times will be determined at the captains meeting.

6.14 Where an infringement occurs regarding procedures mentioned above, a warning would be issued to the entire team. With a second infringement, disqualification would be applicable.

7 EQUIPMENT

7.1 The length of the rods for club competitions shall not be enforced, but for provincial and national events they must not exceed 4m.

7.2 Only reels equipped with a fixed drag, such as “coffee grinders’ are to be permitted. No center pin type reels such as Nighthawks and Magnums etc. of any description will be allowed, nor will the Penn or Multiplier models be allowed.

7.3 Only knotless landing nets are allowed, but must be of an adequate size as not to cause any unnecessary damage to the fish.

7.4 Only one hook per rod shall be allowed, and the use of a hair rig to mount baits is compulsory. Infringements: Disqualification of the peg.

7.5 Bait on the hook is forbidden. This is very important and officials can reel in your lines at anytime to check this. This is a very serious offence. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

7.6 Only manual ground baiting is allowed which includes : baiting with a catapult with which you use your hands, throwing sticks, baiting spoons, and bait rockets which do not exceed an inside diameter of 50mm and a total outside length of 200mm.

7.7 Other techniques which are allowed include the use of a ground based catapult, propelled by elastic, provided two hands are used; plus the use of all soluble bags, tubes, mesh and string is also allowed.

7.8 At night the use of all ground based catapults, bait rockets, bait spoons and handheld catapults is forbidden. Only Boilie Sticks will be allowed.

7.9 The term night shall be determined at the captains meeting.

7.10 A weight must be used within all angling traces and it must weigh not less than 50g.

7.11 The weight must also be attached in such a way that should the trace break; the fish will be able to pull free of the weight. The mechanics of the rig to ensure this will be the case may be inspected by officials, who can ask you to bring in your lines at any time.

7.12 The use of a “dobber”, “float” or floating device for bite indication is not allowed. However the use of a “policeman” style indicator just beyond the rod tip is still permitted.

7.13 Back-leads are allowed, but at any time officials may check to ensure your lines are running inside the angling area.

7.14 The use of remote controlled boats, echo sounding devices and other remote devices is forbidden.

7.15 The use of electronic bite indicators and visual bite detectors such as night-lights are allowed.

7.16 The limits of the angling area or the location of the ground fed area can be indicated by the use of two marker floats, per peg, attached to separate rods. These rods must be kept separate from the angling rods, clearly marked with a strip of marking tape, written, Marker Float Rod. These marker floats may remain in the water during the event, but must be removed once the event has finished.

7.17 The marker floats may be illuminated.

7.18 While angling, all lines must be cast in using a rod and can only be cast in from the peg area. This applies to both the angling rods and that of the marker and rocket rods.

7.19 No baiting or casting devices using compressed air, gas or electricity may be used.

7.20 No cars shall be allowed to drive around at night except for the cars belonging to the organizers.

7.21 Competitors may keep and assemble as many rods as they wish, but they are allowed to fish only with a maximum of four rods per peg at any one time. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

7.22 Any extra rods must be placed vertically, (unless during a thunderstorm), away from the angling rods stand, preferably close to the shelter. The extra rods used for the marker floats and rockets, may be setup close to the angling rods but they must be clearly marked and in separate stands.

8 BAIT AND GROUND BAIT

8.1 The usage of baits and ground-baits containing animal products whether live or dead, fish roe and products of a metal origin are strictly forbidden. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

8.2 Only the following will be authorized; meals, covering mixes, seeds, boilies and pellets. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

8.3 The term covering mixes refers to the use of all ingredients of a soft nature, which may be used to cover the hair.

8.4 No bait or covering mix may be applied to the hook or around the weight. This also prohibits the use of mealie bom feeders and method feeders of any description. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

8.5 All of the mixes prepared using the above products; they must not exceed the size of a 40mm ball. Whether they are feed loosely or form part of your hook bait.

8.6 The use of Argyle and Bentonite is also forbidden. Argyle and Bentonite are clay additives used by some Match Anglers in Europe.

8.7 No ground feed may be fed outside your pegs 20 meter border lines; though an angler is not limited to the distance they can fish. If you accidentally feed or cast outside the 20 meter area (shown in drawing) the official will bring it to your attention and give you and informal warning. However continuous offences will lead to an official warning.

9 FISH LANDING AND HANDLING

9.1 Any competitor, who, due to evident carelessness, presents maimed or damaged fish for weighing, will be sanctioned. In this case, the fish in question will also not be considered as valid.

9.2 The fish shall be deemed legal even if it has been hooked outside the mouth. However the deliberate foul hooking of fish is strictly forbidden.

9.3 All fish must be placed on a wet unhooking mat.

9.4 Unhooking mats are compulsory for when a fish is unhooked. No fish shall be placed on the ground during the unhooking process.

9.5 The size and quality of the unhooking mat must be sufficient to protect the fish, with a length of 1m or greater and a width of not less than 500 mm. The thickness of the mat should also exceed 1 cm.

9.6 The fish may only be stored in specific carp sacks, with only one fish per sack. NO MORE THAN ONE FISH PER SACK.

9.7 During the competition, the carp sacks must be submerged, along their full length, without any ballast, weights or other objects inside. They must also be placed at knee depth, and not any shallower. Fish placed in a sack in shallow water can die very quickly in some climates.

9.8 It is essential that sacks and mats be wet, and kept wet during the unhooking and retaining of the fish. It might be advisable to have a separate bucket for water handy.

9.9 No other method of retaining a fish is allowed, and competitors must ensure they have a sufficient number of carp sacks. In the case of a lack of sacks please ask the official to weigh some fish to free some sacks up. Should officials be unable to weigh sacked fish, the peg mates can release smaller fish to make a sack available for the recently caught one.

9.10 After the fish has been weighed, either immediately after capture or if it has been retained in a carp sack, the fish should be released carefully and unharmed, allowing a short time for any photo’s to take place, if necessary.
9.11 No fish may remain outside of the water for longer than 5 minutes.

10 WEIGHING OPERATIONS

10.1 All weighing procedures must take place as soon as possible and at least every 3 hours.

10.2 In all weighing operations the scales must be identical, both in regards to the model and brand and with the graduation, with indications at least every 10 grams.

10.3 The indication of the weight must be visible by both the officials, and by the competitors of the peg assigned to them.

10.4 One person shall be responsible for the weighing. Another shall be responsible for registering the weight on the official document.

10.5 The officials will indicate the time and weight of the fish caught, and adds it to the weigh sheet.

10.6 Two sets of scales a weigh sling will be provided for each sector.

10.7 All weigh slings will be dampened before use and the scales will be zeroed using the damp sling before each weighing the fish.

10.8 The weigh slings used must be made from of a soft porous material, which protects the fish.

10.9 Until the weighing team arrives to the angler’s position, the peg members must leave their carp sacks containing the fish, in the water.

10.10 The fish shall be taken to the scale by one or both peg members, placed into the weigh sling which is lying on the unhooking mat. The fish will then be weighed by the officials.

10.11 Once the fish has been weighed the fish must be returned to the water, under the supervision of the officials. They must exercise care when releasing the fish.

10.12 No fish is to be placed back into a carp sack once it has been weighed. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

10.13 One or both peg mates must be present during the weighing process to control and monitor the weights, and then sign off the control form once satisfied. Once the weighing procedure is finished, the control form signed and the fish has been released, no complaint regarding weight will be accepted after this time.

11 WEATHER CONSIDERATIONS

11.1 At National competitions the duration of thunderstorms will not be added to the 72 Hour event. a Siren will sound when a thunderstorm is looming and competitors will be instructed to reel in their lines and place vertical placed rods on the ground until such time as the storm had passed. Another siren will then sound and all fishing activities can resume. During this interruption NO fishing activities may take place and all competitors must seek hiding in their respective shelters. Infringement: Disqualification of the peg.

12 CAPTAINS MEETING

12.1 The aim of this meeting is to give information to the teams. During the meeting, the following operations shall be carried out:
12.1.1 Roll call of teams.

12.1.2 Teams will draw lots in alphabetical order to determine the call-up order of drawing.

12.1.3 Draw to assign pegs for the teams in each sector (A, B & C).
12.2 In the case of the team captain or a member from a province which is absent, the Organizers will carry out the option of drawing the pegs.

12.3 During the competition, the organizers will hold a meeting once a day.

12.4 If there are any urgent problems to discuss and solve, an extraordinary meeting may be summoned by the organizers.

12.5 The attendance of the team captains is obligatory. If a team captain cannot attend the meeting, for valid reasons, a representative may substitute him, after having informed the organizers.

12.6 It is compulsory for a delegation of Officials to attend the Team Captains meetings as well.

12.7 A jury will be selected and will consist of the following people: The representative of SAFBAF (chair person), the head official, a representative of the organizers, four team captains (will be drawn at this meeting).

13 PENALTIES AND SANCTIONS

13.1 The sanctions are as follows:

13.1.1 Warnings: All infringements of rules 4.8, 6.1 to 6.13, 7.2, 7.3, 7.6 to 7.20, 7.22, 8.5, 8.6, 9.1 to 9.11 warrant a first warning applicable to the entire team. an Official will in the case of an infringement hand the angler/peg a written warning which should be signed by them as acknowledgement of receipt. The sector official must then inform the head official of the offence in which case the team captain will be informed. If any angler of this team commit the same offence again that particular peg will be disqualified after the same procedure have been followed as explained above.

13.1.2 Disqualification for infringements has been noted throughout the document and do not need any further clarification.

13.1.3 If a team is disqualified, a number of points equal to the number of the participating nations plus an additional 1 will be assigned to it. If a peg is disqualified, the following pegs in the order of finishing will still remain in that position. I.e. if the disqualified peg finished 8th, then those anglers who finished 9th will still remain in 9th position.

13.1.4 If a team receives a warning, this will noted in its file and remain archived for 3 years. In the case of a new infringement during this 3 year period, this will be considered as a relapse and the Jury will make its decision, taking this relapse and the list of sanctions into consideration.

13.1.5 If a peg receives a warning, this remains noted in its file for an unlimited period of time. In case of a new infringement, this will be considered as a relapse and the Jury will makes its decision taking into account this new infringement and the list of sanctions into account.

13.2 The members of the Executive Committee of SAFBAF may have access to the venue and make notes of any infringements of the rules.

14 COMPLAINTS PROCEDURES

14.1 Any complaints must be submitted in writing to the jury. a Deposit of R200 must accompany every written complaint submitted and if the complaint is not upheld the deposit will be deposited into the account of SAFBAF.

14.2 The decision of the jury is final.

15 APPEAL PROCEDURE

15.1 In the event that the team captain wants to lodge an appeal against a warning or disqualification, it must be submitted to the jury in writing and within one hour of the sanction.

The decision of the jury will be final. In the case of a disqualification being upheld the peg involved will now be instructed to pack up and vacate their peg.

16 CLASSIFICATIONS

16.1 TEAM CLASSIFICATION

SECTORS:

Classification on weight only in each sector. The peg with the biggest bag weight is allocated 1 point, the peg with the second biggest bag weight is allocated 2 points etc.

In the case of a tied weight in a sector, the pegs in question will each receive a point equaling the average position they should have held i.e. two pegs would have received a 4th and 5th placing, now receive 4.5 points each (4 + 5 = 9 divided by 2 = 4.5). The next team in line will thus receive 6 points.

The pegs that do not catch anything will receive a number of points equal to the average non-attributed places in their sector (i.e. 8 pegs participating of which 3 blank. The available non-attributed points are therefore 6, 7, and 8. Each of these 3 pegs will now receive the average of the above equaling 7 points each (6 + 7 + 8 = 21 divided by 3 = 7).

TEAMS

The points obtained by a peg in each sector per team will now be added together and the team (3 pegs) with the lowest points will be classified as first etc.

In the event of two teams being tied on points, the team with the heaviest bag over the 3 sectors will be allocated the higher position. If a tie still exists the team with the highest individual peg weight will be allocated the higher position.

INDIVIDUAL CLASSIFICATION OF PEGS

Pegs classified first in a sector will take the first 3 places in the general classification, pegs classified second will take the following 3 places and so on.

The 3 pegs classified 1st in a sector will be placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in accordance with their bag weights and so on.

If a tie exists on weight, priority will be given to the peg with the heaviest single fish weighed. If a tie still exists the highest average weight per peg will be considered.
